Q: How do I set up the mat?

• Lay your mat down on a flat surface. (unless it is a soft mat where then it can be folded and bent)
• Plug the controller into the mat and then plug the other end into a power outlet.
• Press the power button on the controller and set the temperature to your desired heat.
• Let the mat preheat for about 30 minutes. Cover the whole mat with a blanket for even heat distribution . The cover / blanket will trap in the heat.
• If your mat has the PEMF or Photon Lights turn those features on right before you go on the mat.

Q: Can I put the PEMF Mat flat on the couch?
A . Both 72 in and 60 in mats are 24 in (2 ft) wide so will not fit on most couches. The standard couch is usually about 1.5 ft wide and you cannot have the mat hanging over the edge of the couch or the mat will get bent and damaged.

The only mat that fits comfortably on the standard couch is the chair mat since you can lay it flat and it is 1.5 ft wide.
Please measure the depth of your couch to determine what is the best fit.

Q: Can I put the full PEMF mat on my recliner chair?
A: The PEMF mats are made out of crystals so are stiff and cannot be bent or folded into a chair but must lay flat. If you want a PEMF mat for your recliner then you are limited to the chair PEMF type or the small 32×20 in mat (fits on the back of the chair).

All the other full sized PEMFs mats are meant to lay flat on a firm mattress and cannot fit into a chair.

Q: What temperature should I use the mat at?
A: We suggest starting out at 30-50 degrees Celsius. 50 degrees Celsius is suitable for most 30-60 minute sessions. 30 degrees Celsius is suitable for longer times on the mat like if you sleep on the mat. For shorter and less frequent sessions, if you wish to have your mat warmer, turn the temperature up to a maximum of 70 degrees Celsius. (Note: these are internal mat temperatures and surface temperature is less).

Q: Can I use all the mat therapies together?
A: All therapies are meant to be used together. To receive the benefits of the photon therapy the light must be shining thru the material directly on your skin. Thick materials such as the thick mat cover or thick clothing can block the light and will reduce its effects. The amount of light shining thru is the amount of photon therapy you are receiving. You can also use the therapies separately if you wish. For example you can turn only the PEMF ON and have an only PEMF session. The FIR heat does not have to be turned on.

Q: How long should I use the mat for?
A: We suggest to at least use the mat for 30 minutes twice daily.

People usually use the mat twice a day for around 20 – 30 minutes . There is no problem in using it more since all the therapies are safe for extended use as long as you do not have the temp too high. We do have some people who sleep on the PEMF which is why we have the 20 minute timer on the PEMF. The PEMF is on for 20 minutes and then goes to sleep for 100 minutes and then comes on again for 3 cycles [it cycles continuously for the white PEMF controllers]. This way the person will get at least 3 treatments /night. When the PEMF goes to sleep, the PEMF indicator light still stays ON so it is difficult to determine where you are in the cycle if you are not watching the time.

If you want a 40 minute PEMF treatment just stop the PEMF cycle per your controller instructions and then start the PEMF cycle again. Alternatively just turn the power OFF to your controller and then restart per your controller instructions. The Multiwave PEMF controllers have selections for 1 hour PEMF sessions.

Q: Why is the mat actual temperature different from what I set the Temperature to? Why does the Temperature change?
A: For the first 20-30 minutes when you first turn the mat Infrared heating on the temperature will start rising to what you set for your temperature set point.

After the mat temperature reaches your temperature set point, the actual mat temperature will always vary by at least 5 degrees. This is normal. The temperature controller measures the internal mat temperature with a temperature sensor that is located where your back would be laying down on the mat. The temperature controller first lets the temperature increase by about 2-3 degrees above your temperature set point. Then the infrared heating elements are turned off and the controller waits until the temperature drops by about 2 degrees below your temperature set point and then the controller turns the infrared heating elements back on. The crystals keep on providing the infrared heat at all times.

The temperature of the mat will always be hotter where you are laying down as you are trapping the heat with your body. The mat temperature on the edges, where your body is not laying will usually be at a lower temperature. It’s not possible to heat up all the crystals to the same consistent temperature.

Q: How do I use the mat covers?
A: The mat comes with 2 free optional covers and a foil blanket. The thin and regular covers are waterproof and made to protect the mat from sweat when people were using their mats as an infrared sauna or at higher temperatures.  They do not need to be used all the time.

Q: Is the Cover Blocking some of the Therapies?
A: All therapies; PEMF, FIR, Crystal Therapies and Negative ions will cross the cover barrier. For photon therapy, the amount of “shine through” is the amount of photon therapy you are getting.

The PEMF passes through any cover or other such as foam padding and has a range of approximately 2 ft.

Q: How do I wash the mat covers?
A: If you find it necessary to wash the cover, it needs to be a “gentle wash” or hand washed and then hung to dry .

Q: Is completely bare skin necessary for the photon therapy?
A: You do not have to be fully bare skin to get the benefits of the photon therapy. You can wear thin clothing and you still get the benefits of the photon therapy.

If you wear clothing which is blocking 30% of the light shine through, then you will only get 70% of the photon benefits.

Q: Can I sleep on the mat?
A: Yes you can, the mats have up to a 12 hours timer so you can leave it on overnight. We suggest setting the temperature much lower than sleeping on the mat so you don’t get too hot.

Q: Can I use the mat on my bed?
A: Yes you can, all the mats can be placed on top of your mattress or under a thin topper. The mats containing the PEMF feature can only be placed on a firm mattress so the PEMF coils do not get bent. Also remember that if you start to bend the mat excessively on the bed you can damage the internal mat wiring or distort the mat physically.

Q: What is the best PEMF mat to sleep on?
A: The Queen and King sizes PEMF mats are designed to sleep on all night. They come with a thick cover to make them even softer and more comfortable. These mats still have the other therapies in the mat- far infrared waves , negative ions, photon therapy and the crystals .

Q: Can I sleep on the PEMF mat?
A: The PEMF mats are made out of crystals and with PEMF coils installed inside and photon lights on the top creating the 5 different therapies.

The PEMF mats are stiff and cannot be bent or folded into a chair but must lay flat.

The mats can be used on the bed as long as the mattress is firm. The mats have a bit of flex in them but if the mattress is too soft with too much weight then the mat will start to crater out causing the wires to break.

Many people do sleep on the mats all night since the PEMF is designed to cycle all night – 20 minutes on then 100 minutes off .

Many people find that the mats are too hard to sleep on and they need to cover the mat with a thin foam pad, duvet, etc to make it more comfortable.

Q: What should the mat be covered with?
A: You can cover the mat with any type of sheet, blanket or towel. This will help keep the mat clean and protect your skin from the direct heat of the stones when the temperature is high.

Q: How do I clean the mat?
A: Wipe it down with a non-toxic cleaner.

Q: Can I use the mat for my pets?
A: Yes, the mat will have the same positive effects on your pets as it will with you. Make sure to put a cover on the mat to keep it clean and do not let your pet chew or scratch the cable, controller or mat. We suggest setting the temperature to a lower heat setting such as 30-45 degrees Celsius. There is also a special model of mat for pets which has more suitable electrical cords for use around pets.

As you know, animals are far more sensitive to energy medicine and naturally go on the mat for healing. In some families the dog has “taken over” the mat.

Q: I have a knee/hip replacement done. Can I use the far infrared heat and PEMF with a synthetic material/ titanium metal alloy joint replacements?
